Throughout history, innovations in technologies have had a profound effect on how information is stored and accessed. In this discussion, the architecture of library design will be illustrated as it has evolved throughout history responding to new technologies. Some pundits predicted that today’s ubiquitous digital technologies will lead to the academic library becoming obsolete.
